BK Operating Software Administrator Permissions
2025-09-11
All of the Operating Software packages created by BK Precision require administrative rights to be installed. Most of the time when there is an issue with the software installing but not running correctly is cause by users in companies with IT departments that restrict user rights to prevent spam, viruses, etc. Therefore, this creates a problem when the user tries to install and use our operating software packages because he/she will not have enough privileges. There are 2 situations with privileges that can cause problems when installing our software packages:
- The user does not have "administrator rights" in the computer
- The user has administrator rights, but needs to right click the installer or executable to be able to run it.
To solve #1, contact IT department to have them install the software or give administrator rights to the user. To solve #2, if there is an icon in the executable, blue and yellow, that software needs to be run as administrator. To do this simply: right click on the executable and select the option "Run as Administrator".
Another common issue is that costumers will not see the option "Run as Administrator". Most of the time this issue happens when the folder downloaded from our website has not been "unzipped". Make sure to unzip any software package from our website before installation because even if the installation runs, not all the files needed to operate correctly will be available later on.
Summary:
- Unzip file downloaded from BK PRECISION
- Right click on installer
- Select option: "Run As Administrator" (see image below)
- Contact IT dept. to grant Administrator right to the computer being used, or have IT dept. install software.
